Artist Bursaries
In partnership with Wigan Council, Greater Manchester (GM) Arts is offering bursaries of up to £500 for Wigan based freelance creative practitioners. The GM Arts Access Bursaries are designed to support those who find it challenging to cover the costs associated with artist development, such as:
• Collaboration opportunities with other artists or creatives
• Exhibition or performance opportunities
• Industry conferences and seminars
• Mentoring sessions
• Networking events
• Online courses and webinars
• Portfolio reviews
• Professional coaching
• Question and answer sessions with industry experts
• Rehearsal or studio opportunities
• Research trips
• Travel costs
• Residencies
• Training workshops or courses.
Applicants must be living or working in Wigan borough and must be able to use the funds by 8th March 2026.

Session 2: Start to Finish – Applying Without Burning Out

Who it’s for: Artists who feel burnt out by the application process and want to build confidence, clarity, and visibility.
Together we’ll explore:
- How to frame your ideas and purpose
- Talking and writing about your work
- Optional 1-to-1 portfolio/social media reviews.
