The Turnpike Gallery regularly hosts free drop-in art and craft workshops for visitors of all ages. Come along to meet an artist and try new creative activities inspired by our exhibitions, local heritage and environment. 

Saturday Family Workshops at The Turnpike Gallery

Our free drop-in art sessions for families continue throughout 2026. Suitable for everyone aged 5 and over, children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

October Half Term Family Workshops

Enjoy a creative activity with an artist inspired by our current exhibitions programme. Suitable for families with children 5+. Free, booking essential on Eventbrite

Festive Family Fun Day

Enjoy festive family crafts with Archives: Wigan & Leigh and immersive magical den building at The Turnpike Gallery ahead of the Leigh Light Parade. Free drop-in, no booking required.

Sew Together

Bring your buttons, needles and thread and start sewing together at The Turnpike Gallery. Join in a friendly, supportive group for those who love to sew and share their skills. All levels of experience are welcome, though please note this is a self-led session and no formal tuition is provided. Free drop-in, no sign-up required.

Loop the Loop

Join our friendly new social group for knitting and crochet enthusiasts of all abilities. Bring your latest project, settle in with a brew, and enjoy a relaxed chat with fellow crafters in the inspiring surroundings of the gallery.
