The Turnpike Gallery regularly hosts free drop-in art & craft workshops for families inspired by our exhibitions programme. Come along to meet an artist and try new creative activities inspired by our local heritage and environment. Suitable for families with children aged 5+.
Turnpike Festival of Drawing
The Turnpike Gallery: Saturday 27th July 11am-1pm
Use wire to explore and record lines/shapes from the exhibition, and create carbon mono-prints of the shaped wire with artist David Bixter.
Leigh Civic Square: Saturday 3rd August 2pm-5pm
Work together with Claire and other families on a large scale drawing inspired by the movement and shapes of the Leigh Feast.
Tyldesley Library: Tuesday 6th August 10am-12pm
Make your very own drawing folio and try your hand at drawing challenges inspired by the amazing works in our exhibition.

Enter a space filled with coloured lights and make drawings using the shadows that you create.

Working collaboratively on a large-scale drawing participants will contribute to a kaleidoscopic digital drawing and explore reflections in smaller, cut-away sections of the larger drawing.

All workshops are suitable for families with children aged 5+, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All sessions are drop-in, no need to book. If the session is full you may be asked to wait until a space becomes available.
